FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What are the exact dimensions, and how much clearance does it need?
This cabinet measures W 595 mm × H 1835 mm × D 685 mm.
For freestanding installation, allow at least 100 mm clearance on each side, top and back for ventilation. Built-in models only require a 20 mm clearance on all sides.
Measure your doorways and the final location before ordering. If you'd like help confirming the fit, our Sydney team can advise, email hello@lecavist.com.
Why does my cabinet hold fewer bottles than the advertised capacity?
All LeCavist capacities are calculated using the international 750 ml Bordeaux bottle, with shelves removed and bottles stacked end-to-end. In real-world use you'll typically fit around 80% of the advertised maximum, depending on:
- Bottle shape, Burgundy and Champagne bottles are wider than Bordeaux and take more space.
- How many shelves you keep in, more shelves means easier access but lower total capacity.
For example, a 168-bottle cabinet comfortably holds 100–130 mixed-shape bottles with most shelves in place. Each cabinet's specification sheet includes loading diagrams, so you can plan exactly which capacity is best for your collection. View this cabinet's spec sheet and manuals for the recommended layouts or enter your expected capacity and we will propose you the best fit.
Extra matching shelves are available separately on our website if you want more storage flexibility.
How quiet is the wine cabinet?
LeCavist cabinets use a quiet compressor cooling system rated between 38–45 dB depending on the model, comparable to a library or soft conversation. The compressor cycles on and off to maintain temperature, so you'll hear short periods of gentle humming rather than continuous noise.
For the quietest operation:
- Place the cabinet on a level, hard floor and adjust the front feet so it's perfectly level.
- Leave the right ventilation clearance: 100 mm on each side and on top for freestanding models, or 20 mm for built-in models.
- Wait 24 hours after delivery before powering on, so the refrigerant gas can settle.
A faint trickling sound from circulating refrigerant is normal and indicates the cooling system is healthy.
What temperature range does it cover, and will it work in hot or humid climates?
All LeCavist Wine Cabinets cover a working range of 5–20°C. Dual-zone and triple-zone models offer independent zones across that range. Perfect for serving temperature whites (6–12°C), reds (14–18°C) and Champagne (5–8°C) in the same cabinet. Ideal long-term cellaring temperature for all wine types is 12–15°C.
Every LeCavist cabinet is subtropical climate rated, tested to maintain set temperature in ambient room temperatures from 10°C up to 38°C. Even in Australia's warmest regions you'll experience stable temperatures throughout summer. For best efficiency, install the cabinet away from direct sunlight or other heat sources.

Should I buy a built-in or freestanding cabinet?
'Freestanding' models require 100 mm to each side, top and back for ventilation; this is how the heat generated in the cooling process leaves the cabinet. This ventilation space is essential for freestanding cabinets to be able to regulate their temperature accurately.
Built-in models are designed to function perfectly when built into cabinetry. The heat from the cooling process is channelled out of 'built-in' models from a vent at the front of the cabinet, and as such they only require 20 mm space to each side, top and back for installation. This extra internal engineering is why there is a premium for built-in models vs. freestanding.
Built-in cabinets can be used as freestanding; visually the finish is the same except for the small, front vent under the door.
Freestanding models cannot be built-in to cabinetry without the required ventilation space, and doing so may invalidate their warranty.
